Prison Planet

Prison planet, the jail of the universe, is one of a kind. A shared planet that is used to house the worst criminals across the universe. Though it is home to the worst and smartest criminals in the universe, it also has no guards whatsoever. It actually has no contact with the outside universe at all.

The Jump Gate

It has one interplanetary jump gate that moves constantly, that is used only to send inmates to the planet. Though the gates allow two-way travel, because it never stops moving it is near impossible to follow it in order to use as a form of escape when it is activated. Also the fact that the gate is only activated by jails all across the universe and the brothers’ will. Both of which will send you right back.

The Planet Itself

Super max is an understatement to what this world is, not because of the guards but the planet itself.

The planet was formerly a world that was ravaged by a world war that destroyed most of the planet. Leaving the upper atmosphere radioactive with constant energy storms raging through the whole planet’s outer atmosphere. Which was then made even harder to get through by adding tons of magnetic dust to the upper atmosphere. Which are attached to anything that moves through it. And then attracting even more lightning. Causing massive strikes enough to destroy or critically damage any ship.

Then the lower atmosphere, not as heavily charged or radioactive, has changing electric surges, radio interference, and random EM spikes from the planet’s core having high amounts of magnetic metal in its core concentrated at different places. Causing changing EM and gravity swings as the planet rotates. Even though the swings are not severe, it is random because the concentration in the core moves throughout the core.

Then the surface of the planet has a low-level EM field across the entire planet with periodic lightning storms.

Leaving the Planet

This makes it almost impossible to leave the planet in any ship as it would first have to function in a low-level EM field, then make it to an atmosphere that has lightning storms and changing fields making instruments useless. After which it would fly through a radioactive storm of surging energy. Then into a cloud of magnetic dust that is both magnetizing the ship as it makes it heavier while attracting massive lightning surges.

Orbital Defenses

But as a precaution to anyone leaving, the asteroids in the system from baseball-sized to building size were pulled into orbit around the planet. Along with the debris that was left from the war. Meaning millions of pieces of debris are orbiting the planet randomly. Then four satellites were placed in orbit around the planet just beyond the debris that shoot then push anything that leaves the planet’s orbit regardless of what it is. Making the only way on or off the planet the two constantly moving jump gates.

No Staff, No Facilities

Now because the only way off the planet is one of the two jump gates that do not have enough power to create a rift to a different planet and can only allow rifts to be made to them. It means a different gate must be used in order to allow anyone on or off the planet, and as a result this prison has no staff or buildings made to house or control inmates. Instead inmates are sent through the gate with a change of clothes and a week of supplies they must survive or die on their own.

Why Planets Use It

Many planets use this planet instead of a death penalty or life in prison as it costs the government nothing to run. However, because of the way the planet functions there is no way for prisoners to leave for any reason. This also means the actual population on the planet is unknown. As the last change made was to the gate preventing it from allowing other gates to connect to it if there are lifeforms within 100 feet. This change was implemented as both a way to keep new inmates from being attacked on arrival and to keep inmates from attempting to go through the gate when it’s opened for new inmates.
