Physical Appearance

Ten Thousand — Doctor Will to his brothers — is a tall, thin, muscular Cursed Human, over 3.4 eons old (an eon here meaning a billion years). His eyes are blue and silver. A tattoo around his neck spelling “Ten Thousand” marks him wherever he goes.

He looks like someone who could heal you or end you in the same breath. That is not accidental. Lower brothers who only meet him at a rift mouth learn the smile first and the power later.

Personality

An almost scary kind of happy, mixed with an extremely logical mind — calm, bright, and a little menacing. He takes real joy in helping others and has become one of the best doctors to ever live. Like everyone else, he has moments of anger. In those moments his true power shows, and it becomes obvious why he is the strongest member of the Brothers Will.

He also entertains himself at his brothers’ expense. He will laugh at a low-rank gunner for “sleeping,” wave him into a dark rift, and act too important for the little missions he used to run himself. He was a delivery boy once. He does not let anyone forget he is not that boy anymore — except when a joke needs a softer target.

Daily Life

He spends his time exploring the universe, serving as doctor to the Brothers Will, and leading the alliance alongside his brother Twenty Four. In quieter hours he looks for new ways to amuse himself (usually at a brother’s expense) and new places to explore with the Eye of Nebulas.

Between missions he opens rifts, moves people where they need to be, and shows up when a brother is about to break — or when a test needs an audience. Myths on countless worlds call him the bringer of heroes and the doctor to all. The myths are not entirely wrong.

Fighting Technique

Powers / Gear

User of the Phantom fighting style, best known for vanishing and reappearing until he is nearly untouchable. In his hands the style can throw up to ten thousand phantom copies into a fight. Instead of the fighting knives the style is famous for, he uses his control of energy to shut down enemies and their weapons as he moves.

As the oldest and most powerful of the Brothers Will, he can control matter and energy and step into a zone where there is no time — entering and exiting that timeless place wherever he chooses, which lets him be anywhere in an instant. In practice that often looks like a rift opening in front of a brother who did not ask for one.

Limits / Drawbacks

Joy and power make him hard to read. Brothers who need a lift through a rift may also get a lecture, a laugh, or a “simple” drop into soft ground. Co-leading with Twenty Four means he shares the cold choices — who gets which mission, who gets left in the dark until the last second. When his temper breaks, the strongest member of the alliance is no longer joking.

In Loaded

Ten Thousand opens the rift that sends 88 to the princess mission. He teases 88 for standing there “sleeping,” then waves him into darkness — no clear view of the other side. 88 knows the old story: Ten Thousand used to be a delivery boy himself; now he is too important for the little runs.

With Twenty Four he looks down on 88’s low rank, and after the city is saved they meet him for debrief and another round of needling. 88 has names for him in private — destroyer of armies, Mr. Shadow of Death — and still leaves both leaders a cloak-shot reminder that the “weak” brother can vanish into nowhere of his own making.

Summary

The oldest of the Brothers Will and the most powerful. He vanishes into nothingness at a moment’s notice and appears beside his brothers when they need him most — doctor, co-leader, rift-walker, and walking myth.

Neck tattooed with his number. Smile that could heal a world or end one. Ten thousand phantoms if he feels like showing off — and a dark rift if he feels like sending you first.
