Character Bio Sheet
Will 88
Number: 88 · Role: Brothers Will · Status: Active
Featured stories: Loaded (free to read) · Loaded comic
Also appears with: Twenty Four · Ten Thousand · Princess Coco
Physical Appearance
One of the most oddball-looking members of the Brothers Will. Will 88 stands five feet eleven inches tall, with bright blue hair past his shoulders and almost shimmering chrome-colored eyes. His build is the definition of average — not much muscle, not much fat. The only marks that stand out are two tattoos: the number 8 under the knuckles on each trigger finger.
His everyday style is just as strange: bright neon orange pants he wears everywhere. When asked why, he answers simply — “It is my first daughter’s favorite color.” Over it he usually wears a heavy cloak or coat that can hide an arsenal under every inch of fabric.
Nanites keep him looking about twenty years old even though he is millennia older. When he goes fully Loaded, the look shifts: eyes burn metallic, the coat goes heavy with guns, and those orange pants turn chrome black until the fight is over.
Personality
He is the definition of an overprotective father figure — the first to put himself between danger and someone who can’t fight back, especially a child. He is unusually caring for a Brother Will, showing real concern for the people around him. That soft edge does not make him soft in a fight: like any father pushed far enough, he will go through hell, take the devil by the neck, and make him bow.
In the field he complains loudly — about knives instead of guns, about walking when he can’t fly, about Twenty Four and Ten Thousand treating him like a joke. He calls himself the deadliest of his brothers despite what they say, then admits in the next breath that he is weak and slow without his weapons. Pride and insecurity sit side by side. He will sleep on a job if he thinks he can get away with it (Princess Coco calls him Mister Lazy), then work two days straight building a defense no one asked him to build.
A hard rule he keeps for himself: never again will he let anyone feel the fear he once failed to stop. When Brothers Will rules get in the way of saving someone, he will break them.
Daily Life
His nanites give him almost no physical enhancement, so he can live a fairly ordinary life among everyday people while pretending not to be a Brother Will. He is one of the few who choose to marry, adopt, and live as a normal person for stretches of decades — a strange vacation from the Brothers Will every few centuries.
That past still cuts. He had a daughter. His wife was not as lucky. Roughly two thousand years ago, Twenty Four called him away and the planet that held his daughter was destroyed. He has never forgiven that timing. It is why missions that look like “simple deliveries” and end with a child in danger hit him harder than his brothers expect.
Fighting Technique
Powers / Gear
Some call it luck. Others call it numbers. 88 has no real fighting style and his aim is not perfect. What he has is guns — a near-infinite supply materialized through his nanites. Baseline Loaded means eighty-eight weapons of his choice at once: handguns, artillery, rockets, armor-piercing fire, army defense modes, all of it hanging from coat, cloak, ankles, and waist. Volume wins the fight for him.
He can push star-core output and weapon modes together. At full activation he reaches eight hundred eighty-eight weapons. Modes seen in the field include regeneration, clear, heavy artillery, armor-piercing, rapid-fire, army defense, total defense, and overdrive. After a recent upgrade, his main handguns can stay on him even when nanites are inactive — a first for him.
He cannot fly. Without nanites he is slow, bleedable, and can take serious damage. He does not die from it. He heals poorly until systems come back online. He can still improvise: a kitchen knife, bluffs, his own body as a shield, and — when systems are rebuilding — assisted construction of heavy hardware like Maximus, the defensive rail gun he left to protect Princess Coco’s city.
Limits / Drawbacks
Offline nanites take his weapon systems with them. Brothers Will upgrades can leave him unarmed for hours at the worst possible time. Overdrive transfers power from regeneration into weapons: firepower spikes, healing stops, and the body pays for it in pain. Total defense can push fire rate up to a thousand percent, scale him toward eight hundred eighty-eight weapons, and empty the sky — then dump him into critical nanite failure. After a full burn he can face a complete nanite purge and rebuild lasting about forty-eight hours, with almost no functions until it finishes.
Brothers Will custom also limits what he is supposed to touch: live as a local, stay out of ordinary planetary politics, intervene in wider system wars. He hates that rule when a child is on the line.
In Loaded
Loaded opens with 88’s nanites down for an update. Twenty Four hands him a kitchen knife, Ten Thousand drops him through a rift, and the “package” turns out to be five-year-old Princess Coco — an escort mission sold as a delivery. Without guns he still stands between her and the people who want her dead or married into a trap. When systems return, he goes fully Loaded to hold the city. When that is not enough, he forces overdrive and total defense.
After the fight he stays long enough to build Maximus and a linked crown-band so he can come back if Coco is ever in danger again. Then he goes home — but not before reminding Twenty Four and Ten Thousand that the “weak” brother still shoots through a cloak.
Summary
The dad every kid wishes for about sums him up. As the only Brother Will whose nanites give him no real body upgrades, he lives closer to ordinary people than his family does. As the most heavily armed member of that same family, he gets the missions he’d rather skip — the ones that look small until a princess is falling out of the sky and someone has to catch her.
Bright orange pants. Terrible aim. Eighty-eight guns when it matters. He will complain the whole way there. He will still not let the fear win.
